A construction permit has been issued for a residential development at 5071 N Northwest Highway in the Jefferson Park neighborhood. Owned by 5069 N Northwest Highway, LLC, the project will include a three-story building with a basement, providing fourteen new dwelling units. The building will replace an existing structure.
The project’s architecture is by Laszlo Simovic. The masonry building will include a seven-car attached garage with one accessible space and three spaces ready for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE). The design also features a rooftop deck, two stairway enclosures for access, a rear second-floor roof deck, a 95-square-foot masonry trash enclosure, and seven bicycle parking spaces in the basement.
The development will offer fourteen off-street parking spaces: seven in the attached garage and seven unenclosed spaces accessible from a public alley. Closest bus stops can be found for Routes 225 and 226 less than a minute’s walk west to Milwaukee Avenue & Carmen Avenue. Additional bus service for Routes 68, 85, 85A, and 92 all located at Jefferson Park Terminal, a two-minute walk south. Those looking to access the Metra will find Jefferson Park Station, a three-minute walk southeast.
NOMIS Construction, Inc. is the general contractor for the project, with a reported budget of $1,633,500. A finalized completion timeline is unknown.

It’s good to see new residential development in Jefferson Park. There’s plenty of underutilized land there and more development could take some of the pressure off of neighborhoods further in which have seen such high rent increases.
