New construction permits were issued this week for a new three-story residential building slated for 5833 S Calumet Avenue in Bronzeville. Mike Tassome is listed as the owner, and the three-unit project will come equipped with rear open decks, fencing around the property, and a parking pad at the rear. The parcel was previously occupied by a vacant grass lot.

Kathryn Shahbaz O’Brien is the listed architect of record. No drawings or renderings have yet been revealed, and it is currently unclear if the design will be frame or masonry.

The closest bus transit option for future residents is Route 3 via a four-minute walk east to the King Drive & 58th Street stop. The nearest available access point to the CTA L train is available at the Garfield station where the Green Line can be boarded. The station is a 12-minute walk north.

DNA Construction and Consulting will act as the general contractor for the construction, which has a reported construction cost of $450,000. An anticipated timeline or completion date have not yet been disclosed.
