Demolition permits were issued last week for the removal of a two-story frame residence along with a detached frame garage located at 2136 N Sawyer Avenue in the Logan Square neighborhood. The permit’s owner has been listed as Leaduk Inc.

The closest bus services available are Route 82. This service can be found at the intersection of Kimball & Palmer which is a four-minute walk west of the property site. The CTA Blue line can be boarded at the California station which is a 15-minute walk east of the property site. Those looking for green space can stop at Palmer Square Park which is within a five-minute walk east. There are dining and retail options within five minutes of the property along N Kimball Avenue.

Archways Builders is serving as the demolition contractor on this project. No permits have been filed for a future build.

  1. I’ve been a home owner in Logan Square for nearly 30 years, right across the alley from this property in fact.

    A few years ago the owner wanted to demolish this property, and replace it with 6-7 units. He also wanted to changed to zoning for the property.
    I was at the mandatory community meeting about the zoning change/new construction. The majority of those in attendance did not want the project to go forward.
    The property subsequently remained rental for several years, until this past week. The tell tale green fencing encircled the property and it was reduced to a pile of debris by mid-week.
    No community meeting/input.
    Now I have to deal with construction of “2 buildings” and the subsequent congestion of yet another banal overpriced property in my backyard.
    Money talks indeed.
