The Chicago Housing Authority has listed details relating to an upcoming affordable senior living center to be located at 4515 N Winchester Avenue in Ravenswood. The development will be located near the intersection of N Damen Avenue and W Montrose Avenue. Worn Jerabek Wiltse Architects designed the project which will yield a total of 78 one-bedroom dwelling units. Four of the total units will be mobility friendly.
The units are available via the application on the Chicago Housing Authority site and will be offered to seniors who are at least 62 years old. The units will be offered at 80 percent of the area median income (AMI), with an eligible income baseline of $52,200.
The planned development will have an elevator to facilitate movement between floors. There are no fees, no work requirements, or drug screenings as part of the application process. The building will include utilities within the total rent which has not yet been disclosed. Applications and waitlist should open soon, however no timeline is available at this time.

Why are senior living facilities the only housing that can be built over 4-stories out in the neighborhoods? We need hundreds of the throughout the city. Nice traditional-leaning design and scale.
This is not new construction, the building shown in the rendering has been there, by the look of it, since the 1970’s. I’m assuming that this project includes the wretched parking ramp at Damen and Sunnyside. Too much to hope that that beast would be knocked down for something, almost anything, else.
