160 N Elizabeth Street Reaches Two-Thirds Mark in Fulton Market District

Construction is rapidly ascending for a 27-story mixed-use building at 160 N Elizabeth Street in Fulton Market District. This 293-foot-tall edifice planned by Moceri + Roszak is set to yield 9,000 square feet of retail space topped by 375 rental units. Of the planned commercial space and apartments, 20 percent will be designated as affordable. Unit layouts will offer a total of 133 studios, 151 one-bedrooms, 89 two-bedrooms, and two three-bedrooms. Many of the units will also come with private balconies.

Amenities will offer residents a fourth-floor outdoor deck with a pool, lawn, and lounge seating areas. There will also be a fitness center, a co-working space, and additional outdoor decks on the 16th and 27th floors. Parking will accommodate 144 spaces within the podium and a bike room with 160 slots.

Thomas Roszak Architecture has designed the building, whose first three floors are made up of an orange brick and dark metal-clad podium. Above the base section, the main tower’s facade will feature a combination of orange metal paneling and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Public transit in the vicinity includes a selection of Divvy Bike stations and bus service for Route 20 via a six-minute walk south. There will also be service for the CTA L Green and Pink Lines, located an eight-minute walk east to Morgan station.

This major addition to the Fulton Market area is one of the latest examples of West Loop‘s increasing density, as roughly a couple dozen projects (some up to 600 feet) are now in the works. Clark Construction is behind the $70 million build, with a completion now penned for the second quarter of 2023.
