A permit was issued yesterday for the new construction of a four-story residential building at 1822 N Howe Street in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. The owner is listed as 1820 Howe Development LLC, and the current plans indicate this project will yield a total of seven dwelling units. The second- and third-floor units will feature front balconies as well as private decks at the rear. This will be a striking build with a porcelain paver roof deck and pergolas; there will also be a detached eight-vehicle garage with its own rooftop deck. The development will replace a previous structure on the site which according to records, was approved for demolition in January 2021.
Christopher Boehm is listed as the architect of record on the project. At the time of this writing, no drawings or renderings have been disclosed, however, plans indicate that this build will lean heavily on masonry contractors.
The closest bus service available is Route 8 and can be found at Halsted & Willow via a five-minute walk southwest. The CTA Red Line can be accessed at the North/Clybourn station via a ten-minute walk south. There is an abundance of retail and dining options, including Alinea, steps away from the planned project along N Halsted Street.
Cashel Development will act as the general contractor for the $3.128 million construction. A full timeline and an anticipated completion date have not yet been revealed.

I’m going to put this loss in the ‘travesty’ bucket…
Lincoln Park developers HATE Chicago at this point. It’s borderline trolling. We’ve lost so many great structures in LP, the charm is now gone.
