A demolition permit has been issued for a two-story, multi-unit frame residence and a detached frame garage located at 3938 N Bell Avenue in North Center neighborhood. The permit’s owners have been listed as Max Remodelers Inc. Permits were issued in October to erect a two-story single-family home, complete with a basement, two-car garage, and a rooftop deck.

The closest bus service for Route 80 can be found at the intersection of Irving Park & Oakley via a two-minute walk west. There are a number of popular restaurants and retail options along nearby W Irving Park Road.

DS Construction is serving as the demolition contractor on this project. At the time of this writing, no construction permits have been filed or issued.

  1. And another piece of the fabric of Chicago will be lost forever. In its place will be some ugly, nondescript rectangle with zero character. Couldn’t find a vacant plot of land anywhere else? ANYWHERE???? Or. here’s a wild idea – if this particular little spot of land was SO important how about restore/rehab this building instead of tearing it down? By rehab, I don’t mean gut and destroy either.. Yes, I’m sure it won’t be cheap to restore and bring up to code and install modern electric and other safety measures, but destroying the parts of a neighborhood that make it desirable and unique will eventually have the reverse effect.
