Construction permits have been issued for a three-story residential building located at 6043 S Vernon Avenue in West Woodlawn. Filed under Scott Allbright, the development will contain three total residences and a detached garage, replacing what is now a vacant lot.
Gary Wands is listed as the architect of record. No drawings or renderings have been published, and it is unclear if the new building and garage will be frame or masonry.
Future residents will have access to a variety of bus routes in the immediate vicinity, including stops for Routes 4 and 59 located a two-minute walk southeast to 61st Street & Eberhart. Bus service can also be found a two-minute walk southwest to the 61st Street & King Drive, with additional stops for Route 59 as well as stops for Route 3. Other buses within a roughly 10-minute walk consist of Route 2 to the northeast and Route 63 to the southwest. For the CTA L, Green Line access is located at King Drive station, a seven-minute walk southwest.
For outdoor space, the southern edge of the 372-acre Washington Park is within walking distance, a two-minute walk north. This sprawling park has a variety of recreational venues, including but not limited to a lagoon, playgrounds, a sculpture garden, multiple baseball/softball fields, open grass space, and a large pool area.
Allbright Construction LLC is the general contractor behind the $450,000 project, with no anticipated completion date having yet been listed.
