Construction permits have been issued for a three-story residential building at 5231 S Wabash Avenue, located in Washington Park. The listed owner, KPG Chicago LLC, has planned for three total dwellings, an additional open rear steel porch, a series of decks, and a three-car parking pad.
Charles E. Schwartz is serving as architect of record. While no renderings of Schwartz’s design have yet been revealed, the permit’s filing description has indicated a masonry structure.
Nearest bus transit for future residents includes north and southbound stops for Route 29, located a three-minute walk southwest to State & 53rd street. Additional service comprises of east and westbound stops for Route 15, which can be found a four-minute walk north to 51st Street & Wabash. Slightly further to the east and south residents will find stops for Routes 3 and 55, respectively.
The closest CTA L Green Line access is available via 51st station, a 10-minute walk northeast. Those wishing to board the Red Line can also find Garfield station, a 15-minute walk southwest.
As far as outdoor access, the vast 346-acre Washington Park is in close proximity, whose western edge is less than a 10-minute walk east.
Metropole Holdings LLC is the general contractor for the $350,000 project, whose full completion timeline is not yet known.
