Permits were filed just over a week ago for 1518 W Thomas Street, a four-story development in Noble Square, between W Thomas Street and a smaller alley. Currently on the site sits two smaller residential buildings, each two floors above ground. The lot is located two blocks west of the intersection of W Thomas Street with N Milwaukee Avenue, where bus Route 56 stops. Within a five-minute walking distance is the triple intersection of N Milwaukee Avenue, N Ashland Avenue, and W Division Street, which hosts an array of restaurants, entertainment, and outdoor activities. Also at this intersection is bus Route 70 access, as well as the CTA L Blue Line via Division Station.
Permits show 1518 Thomas LLC as the owner, John C Hanna as the architect of record, and Schiller Development Incorporated as the general contractor for the $973,200 development. There will be three residential units in the building, as well as a basement, a rooftop terrace, and a carport for three spots. Renderings have not yet been revealed.
No completion date is currently listed, but demolition is imminent for a project that would normally take one to two years to complete.
