Basement Level Takes Shape for UIC Computer Design Research And Learning Center in Little Italy

The basement level of the University of Illinois Chicago’s new computer science building can be seen taking shape at 900 W Taylor Street in Little Italy. Foundation Work Continues for New Computer Science Center at UIC Campus in Little Italy

Recent photos show structural work now rising above grade for University of Illinois Chicago‘s planned five-story computer science wing, known as the Computer Design Research And Learning Center. With work having commenced this past summer, the structure is set to replace a former parking lot at Little Italy‘s 900 W Taylor Street. This curvy addition will attach directly to the existing UIC Science and Engineering Labs building, while offering more than 135,00 square of new programming.

Site prep and caisson work is now visible for a new five-story educational building at 900 W Taylor Street, located near the southern edge of The University of Illinois Chicago‘s main campus. Known as the UIC Computer Design Research and Learning Center (CDRLC), the new 135,000-square-foot facility will cling to an existing mid-century building that houses various engineering departments and research centers.
