The tower crane is being erected this week at 410 North Elizabeth, the new Fulton Market residential tower from developer The Tree Street Group. Twenty-two months after it was permitted the first time (December 12, 2024) and eight months after its second, for-real issuance (February 19, 2026) we saw the full crane in the air on Tuesday. Workers on top of the rig were adding finishing touches, and it looked like it would be ready to do the heavy lifting by Wednesday.
We don’t know why this one had two permits; we just know we’re happy to see it finally in the air. However, we do know why there’s a third tower crane permit; a Phase 2 permit has been pending in the Chicago Data Portal since September 29. That will allow concrete contractor Adjustable Forms and general contractor Clark Construction to tie the crane into the concrete core and jump it up a few sections as construction progress rises. A construction hoist was permitted on September 2.
Shout-out to “bc” for the comment Tuesday morning that the crane was up. We headed over there for a few shots:

That second photo really speaks volumes about how much this chunk of the city has evolved.
I hope the higher-density projects start bringing that neighborhood energy beyond fancy dinner-date nights. This area would benefit from more continuous green space. Not something shared by a dog park. Something of the scale of Bartelme Park or Lakeshore East. Even as small as Coliseum Park would be enjoyable.
Union and skinner park at not that far away to the south. Newcomers will have to get used to leaving their perceived bubble and cross some streets and find the area is safe.
I’m all for burying or having an elevated walk away over the tracks. My dream is they build a park over 290 one day.
Awesome! Love to see this project underway.
