A new construction permit issued by the city allows the development of a two-story plus basement, two-unit frame residence at 2128 West Eastwood Avenue in the Ravenswood neighborhood. The permit, which comes with a reported cost of $475,000, was issued on September 10, a mere 10 days after its application start date of August 31. The entity of GL-888 LLC is named as the property owner.

Maria V Contracting Inc. of Elmwood Park will be the general contractor, working with plans created by Pavlovcik Architecture. Scant details include a rooftop deck and a six-foot fence with a gate enclosing the back yard. Neither surface parking nor a garage are mentioned, and the current residence does not include a garage. There is an alley at the back of the lot, directly beneath the passing Brown Line tracks, so adding parking in the future is a possibility.

The site is improved by a single-family home built in the 1880s. Real estate listings identified the home as in need of a gut-renovation or complete teardown, noting “the value is in the land”. It had been in the same family since 1941 before it was purchased by the LLC in April for $500,000. A demolition permit will be required, but if one is pending, it is not searchable in the Chicago Data Portal.

Local transit availability, via Google Maps

2128 West Eastwood sits two blocks west of the Damen Brown Line elevated platform entrance. CTA bus service is also available there via Route 50 traveling north-south. For east-west service, #81 buses make stops two blocks north along West Lawrence Avenue. That bus can be used to connect with the Ravenswood Metra station and its UP-N trains located about half a mile east.
