Permits Issued for Residential Conversion of 23 W Hubbard Street in River North

Renovation permits have been issued for an existing four-story masonry building located at 23 W Hubbard Street in River North. Filed under the owner 9-25 W. Hubbard LLC, the top three office floors will be converted to six residential units, while the existing ground-level retail and basement will be retained.

John Hanna is the architect of record. No drawings or renderings of the conversion have been published, and it appears that the existing brick exterior will be retained.

Residents will find various buses within a two-block radius, including Routes 22, 29, 36, and 65. Additionally, nearby CTA L access includes the Red Line at Grand station via a four-minute walk northeast, as well as the Brown, Green, Orange, Pink, and Purple Lines at State/Lake station via an eight-minute walk south. Lastly, the Blue Line is reachable via Washington station, a 10-minute walk south.

The property lies central to a wide variety of retail and dining located both within River North neighborhood, as well as to the east along Mag Mile and south to The Loop. The Chicago River and Riverwalk is also available via a six-minute walk south.

William’s Construction & Design is the general contractor behind the $200,000 conversion. An anticipated completion and opening date for the new units has not been publicized.
