A two-unit residential building permitted for construction in May now has permission to add a coach house ADU to the parcel. At 1838 North Rockwell Street in Logan Square, developer Felix Widjaja is erecting a two-story with basement, two-unit property.
Philip Casagrande of Casagrande Architects LLC is the architect of record, and Casagrande is also the general contractor. The original application was filed in August of last year, and when issued on September 16, the permit shows a reported cost of $505,000.
On September 16, a second permit for the site was issued, allowing for the construction of a coach house ADU and a two-car garage. While not specified as a two-story structure, it is presumed the additional dwelling unit will be above the garage spaces. That permit was applied for on January 28, and it comes with a reported cost of $140,000. It is not indicated if the three combined units will be rental apartments or for-sale condos.

Recent Street View images captured earlier this month show the main residence already topped out. It replaces a long-vacant lot next to a new three-flat at 1834 North Rockwell that was completed in 2018 by another development team.
