Permits have been issued for a new three-story residential building located at 917 S Aberdeen Street in Little Italy. Owned by MBZ Properties LLC, the project will house two total units and include a basement. The structure is set to replace a two-story frame residence.
Ronald Vari of Vari Architects is the architect of record. No drawings or renderings have yet been released, and it is unclear if the structure will be frame or masonry.
Permits have not indicated on-site parking, though multiple transit options will be available to residents nearby. Less than a minute walk south at the intersection of Taylor & Aberdeen are east and westbound bus stops for Route 157. Other buses within a 10-minute walk include Route 60 to the west, Route 12 to the south, Route 8 to the east, and stops for Route 7 both to the northwest and northeast. As far as the CTA L, occupants will find the closest Blue Line service at UIC-Halsted station, located via a 10-minute walk northeast. The Pink Line can also be found at Polk station via 19-minute walk west.
Parks within the area includes the adjacent Sheridan Park, as well as Arrigo Park and Vernon park slightly further to the northwest. The University of Illinois Chicago’s main campus is also within reach less than a five-minute walk east.
WMBE Chicago Inc is the general contractor behind the $210,000 construction, whose full completion timeline is not yet known.
