A new construction permit was issued August 20th to build a three-story mixed-use building at 3047 South Archer Avenue in the Bridgeport neighborhood. An application for the permit is dated August 12, 2024 and it comes through just over a year later with a reported cost of $400,000.

The permit calls for two dwelling units with rear porches located on the second and third floors of the structure, while office space will occupy the ground level. One surface parking space is to be included at the rear of the property, accessed from the alley off South Pitney Court. The subject parcel is a vacant lot just east of Bubbly Creek and Ashland Avenue. The design is by Kenneth Brandeis, and MPI Contracting will be the general contractor, as designated in the construction permit.

By walking south on Archer Avenue to Ashland Avenue and crossing north at the traffic light, the Ashland Orange Line elevated train is about three tenths of a mile away. However, a stairway from the train station up to Archer Avenue can cut the walk nearly in half for those brave enough to walk across Archer using the crosswalk at Broad Street.
For bus travel, Route 62 buses stop in each direction on the 3000 block of South Archer. At the Orange Line platform, a bus depot includes stops for Routes 9, X9, and 31. The 31 bus also makes stops two blocks away at Archer and Lock Street.
