The first of a pair of three-flats has been permitted to begin construction at 2418 West Gladys Avenue on the Near West Side. A second permit, for 2416 West Gladys, is pending in the Chicago Data Portal, and will leave just one vacant parcel remaining on the large vacant lot. Issued on May 23 after an application on March 13, the new permit carries a reported construction cost of $300,000.

Oscar Renteria is named in both permits as the property owner and developer. Angel Sida is the architect of record, and ANM Mechanical Services is identified as the general contractor. The three-story, three-unit buildings will have rear wooden parches connected by a stairway and six-foot fences around the property. The permits do not indicate there will be basement levels. Two surface parking spaces will be included for each building.

Helping to fill in the block, a permit was issued for a four-story, eight-unit building with six surface parking spaces at 2430 West Gladys. Another development team is working on that project, which was permitted in October of last year.

The homes will be about three-quarters of a mile from the proposed 1901 Project surrounding the United Center.
