Construction progress is up to the second floor at Wicker Park Place, the latest residential project from developer/general contractor Wicker Park Apartments. Located at 1504 West Haddon Avenue, the building replaces a long-vacant surface lot along North Milwaukee Avenue between Wicker Park and Noble Square in West Town.
The four-story structure will contain 14 dwelling units with studio, convertible, and one-bedroom floor plans. A dozen of those units will be on the three upper floors, and two of them will share the ground level with a single commercial space. There will be a basement below grade, and a rooftop party space for residents to share. In the true spirit of Transit Oriented Development, there are no parking spaces for this project.
The City of Chicago issued a building permit for the development on June 28 of this year, and Wicker Park Apartments broke ground this summer. They are on schedule to open the apartments to tenants in the fall of 2025.
TOD status is possible here because Wicker Park Place is mere steps from a variety of CTA options. The Route 56 Milwaukee bus has stops in both directions right outside residents’ front door. Less than two blocks away is the intersection of Ashland Avenue and Division Street, home of the Division Blue Line subway station and access to Route 9, X9, and 70 buses.
