Construction has begun on a new two-unit residential development at 1007 West Cullerton Street in the Pilsen neighborhood, more than a year after receiving its initial permit to begin. The three-story with basement building will include one duplex-up and one duplex-down.
Outdoor space will involve a steel stairway leading to decks on all three levels at the back of the building, and a private rooftop deck for the duplex-up occupying the second and third floors. No parking is mentioned in the permits, though a pair of surface parking spaces off the alley is likely. The lot at this site, while vacant, does have a concrete parking pad at the rear of the property.
The original new construction permit was issued on July 3 of last year; a revision was issued in July of this year, changing many of the project’s build team, including the general contractor. That assignment now belongs to 360 Construction. Plans for the home were designed by Z Feng Architecture of the West Loop.
Residents of 1007 West Cullerton Street will live within a two-block walk of the CTA’s Route 21 bus, south at Cermak Road. A three-block walk east leads to Routes 8 and 62 buses at Halsted Street. The Route 18 bus, two blocks north on 18th Street, can be used to connect with the 18th Pink Line elevated platform, just over a mile away to the west. Metra’s Halsted Street station, serving the BNSF line, is just over half a mile northeast.
