A new construction permit has been issued for a three-story, four-unit residential building located at 1838 West Addison Street In Lake View. The permit, which was applied for on August 8, and issued on November 21, is currently in an active status with fees due.
The project will be a fully sprinklered building, featuring a roof deck with enclosures and pergolas, front porches on the 1st and 2nd floors, a rear porch on the 1st floor, and a four-car garage with a roof deck and pergolas.
Construction is estimated to cost $1,259,550, with various fees paid and unpaid totaling $9,824.23. When complete, 1838 West Addison Street will be steps from the Addison CTA Station, which services the Brown Line.

The photo is misleading. It’s the iconic single family Victorian to the right. There was a lot of discussion on an earlier post between people who lamented the loss of a vintage home and the people that would tear anything and everything down in the name of adding density.
