The land will soon be ready for new construction, either as one large mansion-style home, or as two separate lots that could hold single-family dwellings or multiple condominiums, per the listing by The Lowe Group. It is on the market for $4,695.000.

1942 North Orchard is located just south of the Armitage/Halsted business corridor and Lincoln Park High School. Nearby transit options include Routes 8 and 73 CTA buses, while the Armitage Brown/Purple Line elevated platform is just under half a mile to the west.
As this property is available for sale, there is, of course, no timeline for when new construction will begin, nor is there info on what type of residence will be built here.

I’m not usually happy when an old building is demolished, but the ca. 1993 A.D. facade pretty much pre-demolished this one, if the photo is accurate.
So the Lowe group bought the property and tore down the building with plans to sell the empty lots? Was the building in that bad of shape?
The land is worth more without the building than with it.
