The City of Chicago has issued a new construction permit for a fully sprinklered 4-story, 8-unit residence with a basement, 3-story front porches, fences, and a 7-space parking pad at 1534 East 66th Place in Woodlawn. The project, which has an estimated cost of $686,000, was approved through the self-certification process.
The construction permit was issued on September 9. Plans were designed by Prashanth Mahakali, and development is being led by owner Renaissance Properties-IL LLC.
The total permit fee is $28,766.80, with all fees paid in full. When complete, 1534 East 66th Place will be a short walk from the 63rd Street Metra Station, which services the South Shore Line Train.

As a Woodlawn resident, I’d just like to note that while the South Shore Line does service 63rd St. Station, it’d be far more important to mention that the METRA ELECTRIC does, too. This street is also located super close the #6 bus, which provides express service to the Loop.
