A permit for new construction has been issued for a property located at 3502 North Central Avenue in Portage Park. The permit, which was applied for on October 4, 2023 and issued on August 5, allows for the erection of a new two-story residential townhome development with a basement, consisting of eight dwelling units.
The development will feature open entry stairs, rear stairs, and a new detached masonry garage with two parking spaces for each unit. The eight units will have the following addresses: 3502, 3504, 3506, 3508, 3510, 3512, 3514, and 3516 North Central Avenue. The total fee for the permit is $28,884.96, with $20,414.96 paid towards building fees, $950 towards zoning fees, and $7,520 towards other fees. The reported cost of the project is $1,800,000.
The owner and general contractor for the project is Fimla Construction Inc. The architect is Andy Kacprzynski. When complete, the property will be located a short walk from a variety of bus lines, including the 77 and 85 lines.

Clarification (or correction): The nearest east-west bus route to this site is Addison (#152), one block north, not Belmont (#77), which is three blocks south
We need more of this instead of tearing down buildings from the 19th century
we need more businesses that are going to better the community, so far we’ve only gotten plasma centers that attract less than savory characters.
