Construction work continues at 919 West Belden Avenue in Lincoln Park for a two-unit condo building. The Halcyon Development Group effort will offer a duplex-down on the first floor and basement, and a duplex-up on the second and third floor.

Designed by Hanna Architects, the building will include a rear deck for each condominium, with one off the first floor and one off the second floor. A metal stairway at the back of the building connects all three levels. A detached two-car garage will feature a rooftop deck. A rendering of the new building on the website of Porter Goldberg Residential concierge service shows a February 2025 availability date.

The building permit for the development, issued December 22, 2023 by the City of Chicago, names BM UK Enterprise Company as the general contractor. A demolition permit issued February 9 of this year to remove the site’s previous structure lists DemoX as the demo contractor.

Residents of 919 West Belden Avenue will be a two-block walk east from stops for the Route 8 bus. To the north less than two blocks away is the Fullerton Red/Brow/Purple Line platform, with stops for the 37 and 74 bus out front on Fullerton Parkway.

What a travesty. Lincoln Park and Lakeview are destroying more historical housing than all the other neighborhoods combined.
I feel this design is beautiful, the grid windows and the light brick give it a timeless, elegant feeling. I am just so tired of these limestone/brick buildings that all look the same to me in LP. This builder did a similar building at 555 Armitage which I thought was an innovative design next to a fire station, kinda copying the brick from the station.
