Details have been revealed for the new Chicago Sky training center at 5499 W 65th Street in Bedford Park. Located on the south side of the city’s boundary along 65th Street, the announcement comes as the team continues to see a rise in popularity. The project will finally give the team its own training center.
Started in 2005, the Chicago Sky were the first independently owned women’s professional basketball team to join the WNBA. The team gained more traction with locals after winning the 2021 WNBA Championships. However they currently train at the Sachs Recreation Center in Deerfield, a public park facility.
Sitting next to the Wintrust Sports Complex on an open green space, the structure will contain over 40,000 square feet of space dedicated for the Sky. Inside will be two regulation sized WNBA courts, lounges, film room, high-tech training and conditioning room, private chef’s kitchen, content creation studio, and beauty stations.
The team is partnering with The Obama Foundation and the YMCA of Metro Chicago to offer new activities, programming, and services to strengthen the community. The exterior will feature accents in the team’s colors and a large Sky Town sign. The team expects to star construction on the $38 million project soon, with a December 2025 completion.

It’s kind of a pity that it’s going on the “park”, rather than some of the nearby vacant land, but I appreciate the investment nevertheless.
