Demolition permits have been issued for a three-story frame residential building, located at 218 W 24th Street near the southeast corner of Chinatown. The owner, listed in the permit as Victor Kuo, plans to replace the current structure with a three-story residential building. The not-yet-issued construction permit shows that the building will contain three total units, as well as a basement and three on-grade parking spaces. Neither an architect nor renderings have yet been revealed.

Nearest bus transit includes Route 24, located steps to the east at the Wentworth & 24th Street stop. Additional stops for Route 44 can be found via a seven-minute walk west along S Canal Street, while the Route 62 bus is one block further west to Archer & 23rd Place. The two nearest CTA L stations are the Red Line’s Cermak-Chinatown station, an eight-minute walk northeast and the Cermak-McCormick Place station, a 12-minute walk northeast. Multiple parks also reside within a 15-minute walk, including Sun Yat-Sen Playground Park, Park No. 540, and Ping Tom Memorial Park.
The property is zoned for RT-4, permitting a maximum residential building height of 38 feet. A floor area ratio of up to 1.2 is also allowed, in which the structure’s total floor area may not exceed 1.2 times the area of the lot itself.
DS Construction is serving as the wrecking contractor. With its construction permit still processing, a timeline for the project is not yet known.
