Coming in at 29th in Chicago YIMBY’s tallest projects underway is the 290-foot-tall 167 N Green Street, located in the Fulton Market neighborhood.
Developed in partnership between Focus and Shapack Partners, the 17-story mixed-use building will accommodate primarily office space, as well as retail and tenant amenities.
Marketed as 167 Green Street on its marketing website, the tower will feature a unique set of features for both its tenants and visiting shoppers. Rather than having its retail face outward into the street, a pedestrian passageway known as “The Mews” has been carved out of the structure’s base, allowing for more storefront space and a unique shopping experience. In addition to storefronts, the corridor will also include lobby access for building tenants, as well as room for temporary pop-up retail.
Office tenants will find their own unique array of features, with an abundance of available activities on the designated 17th-floor penthouse. These include a fitness center, an outdoor terrace and garden, a game room, and most notably a full-sized basketball court that can also be used as an auditorium. Meanwhile, occupants on the 16th floor will have a separate private outdoor terrace.
Gensler is behind the building’s design, which features a green-tinged curtain wall broken up by varying patterns of dark matte metal. Most distinctly is a gold-plated motif that carries throughout the facade and The Mews.
CTA bus access includes the nearby Route 8 that runs along Halsted, whose northbound stop is located just a two-minute walk northeast to Halsted & Lake, while its southbound stop is a slightly further four-minute walk northeast to Halsted & Fulton Market. Additional routes within a 10-minute walking radius include Route 20 to the south, Route 65 to the north, and additional 56 and J14 buses to the east and southeast.
For the CTA L, tenants and visitors will be able to board the Green and Pink Lines via Morgan station, a four-minute walk west. Meanwhile, the Blue Line is available via Grand station, a 10-minute walk north.
Focus has also served as the general contractor for the 750,000-square-foot project. With final exterior touches currently underway, full completion is expected by the end of this year.
