Full building permits were issued Thursday for the upcoming mixed-use development located at 6311 S Maryland Avenue in Woodlawn. The permit owners are listed as the 63rd Maryland LLC. The site sits between E 63rd Street, E 63rd Place, and S Maryland Avenue.
FitzGerald Associates is serving as the architect on the project which will yield a five-story mixed-use building. The development will feature 58 units, two of which will be live and work spaces. The ground floor will feature 3,500 square feet of retail space. The site will include 40 surface parking spaces, 32 of which will be reserved for building residents. There will also be 50 bicycle parking spots on site.
There are nearby transit options including Route 63 which can be boarded at the 63rd Street & Drexel stop directly in front of the site. The CTA Green Line can also be accessed at the Cottage Grove station via a four-minute walk west. There are many retail and dining options on the 63rd Street corridor.
Ujamaa Construction, Inc is acting as the general contractor on the $19.5 million build. A full timeline for completion is not currently known.

This is great infill for the neighborhood and hundreds more of these are needed. The surface parking is a shame.
