A demolition permit was issued last week for a one-story masonry building located at 3501 S Union Avenue in the Bridgeport neighborhood. The building was formerly home of Morrie O’Malley’s Hot Dogs.
The owners are listed under the LLC 3501 S Union. At the time of this writing, no plans have been submitted to upgrade any of the zoning designations for this property and there are no pending permits for any future constructions.
Any future constructions will be well situated as the closest bus service available is for Route 35, which can be found at the intersection of 35th Street & Union directly across the street from the lot. There are a number of popular businesses and eateries along nearby W 35th Street.
Sciortino Group Inc is serving as the demolition contractor on this project. There is no indication as to a timeline for any future constructions.

Sad to see a part of my neighborhood go. Hope they build a commercial/residential building here.
Yes really strange to knock this down with no other plans ready. Hopefully we get something more dense with ground retrail and it doesn’t sit empty for awhile.
😢
We were at O’Malleys at least 4 times attending White Sox games last year. We would eat there and also park there, what happen to it. Attended a White Sox game on May 24, 2022, could not find it and then realized the building was gone. Did the owners just decide to close and sell the property? How sad!
