Renovation Permits Issued for 225 W Wacker Drive in The Loop

Permits have been issued for interior and exterior renovations to the fourth floor of 225 W Wacker Drive, a 28-story office building in The Loop.

The permit has been filed under the occupying name of 225 West Wacker Owner, LLC. Plans include alterations to the tenant space and the connected rooftop terrace that extends from the main tower. These alterations come almost exactly a year after Spear Street Capital finalized its $210 million purchase of the tower, according to an article by REjournals.

Christine Breuer of Valerio Dewalt Train Associates is the listed architect of record for the project. No drawings or renderings of the new space have been revealed.

Originally built in 1989 and designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, the postmodernist structure is situated amidst a wealth of transportation options. Tenants have access to buses 22, 37, 125, 134, 135, 136, and 156 all within a five-minute walking radius. Meanwhile, six of the seven CTA L lines are available at the Clark/Lake station, a five-minute walk east. The remaining Red Line is slightly further, via a nine-minute walk southeast to the Lake subway station. Those looking to board the Metra will also be in close proximity to the Ogilvie Transportation Center, a nine-minute walk southwest.

Skender Construction is the general contractor for the $4.2 million undertaking. A full completion timeline has not been posted.
