The City of Chicago has issued a new construction permit for a 2-story, 2-dwelling unit building with a detached 2-car garage at 6537 South Rhodes Avenue in Woodlawn. The project, with an estimated cost of $440,700, was approved through the city’s self-certification process.
The permit was issued on September 9, after a processing time of 34 days. Plans were designed by architect John Hanna. The total permit fee is $3,864.00, with $375.00 paid and $3,489.00 unpaid.
When complete, 6537 South Rhodes Avenue will be a short walk from CTA Stations servicing the Green Line.

It feels like a new building is permitted in Woodlawn every single day
I wish we were celebrating this more, rather than complaining about tower cranes downtown. This is such a great trend!
New construction in SW Woodlawn is a huge deal!
