A new construction permit has been issued for a two-story, two-unit residential building located at 325 South Richmond Street in East Garfield Park. The permit, which was issued on May 7, was applied for on February 29, and took 68 days to process.

The new building will be a frame construction with a basement, an open rear wood deck, and a two-car private frame garage. It has a reported cost of $350,000. Construction is being led by owner Jonathan Strauss. They are working along local architect Charles Schwartz, who is responsible for the property’s design.

The total fee for the permit is $2,266, with $1,816 paid so far. This includes $550 in building fees, $150 in zoning fees, and $1,566 in other fees. There is still an unpaid balance of $450.

When complete, 325 South Richmond Street will be located steps from bus service for Routes 94 and 126. Beyond that, it will also be a short walk from the Kedzie-Homan CTA Station, which services the Blue Line.

    • I was just thinking that also!..i have a couple of spots that now seem like a good idea to build in egp. Hopefully the city supports this and doesnt create too much red tape
