The City of Chicago has issued a new construction permit for a proposed two-story, three-unit residential building. Components include a basement, rear two-story deck with stairs, and a rear three-space parking pad at 2036 West 18th Place in Heart of Chicago. The permit, which was issued on May 6, required a variation to reduce the required lot size for three units.
The total fee for the permit was $4,103.00, with $2,150.00 paid for building fees, $75.00 for zoning fees, and $1,878.00 for other fees. The planned cost of construction is $350,000.00.
The project is being led by owner Devago Ventures Inc. The architect for the project is Peter Sterniuk, also based in Chicago. When complete, 2036 West 18th Place will be located steps from bus service for Routes 18 and 50. Beyond that, it will be a short walk from the Damen CTA Station, which services the Pink Line.

Way, way, way more private developments like these need to happen in Pilsen and other SW/S side communities. People need choices.
I would like to see the end of all public subsidized housing funneled into these communities just to give local politicians bragging rights.
