A renovation project has been approved at 1548 S Ridgeway Avenue in North Lawndale. The project, which was approved on February 9, aims to enhance the living space and overall functionality of the existing residential building. It plans to convert the building from two dwelling units to three and add interior renovations and exterior improvements to the property.

Renovation work has an estimated total budget of $185,000, and is being orchestrated by owner Gremell Pickens. It will see the addition of a new wood rear porch and concrete front entrance stairs. Plans were designed by architect Oscar Alba. SRGIG LLC, a general contractor from Chicago, has been tasked with overseeing construction work.

1548 S Ridgeway Avenue is located steps from bus service for Route 18, and is a short walk from stops for Route 82. Beyond that, the Central Park CTA station, which services the Pink Line, is located a 12-minute walk southeast of the property.

  1. Glad to see this old house being saved! It will definitely take some work to get back into good shape

  2. It’s such a study of contrasts (or economic privledge). Graystones in mint condition are torn down on the north side. Graystones almost beyond saving are rehabbed on the southside.
