The City of Chicago has issued permits for the construction of a new prefabricated modular building at 4836 S Loomis Boulevard in Back of the Yards. The three-story, two-unit multifamily structure is a venture led by owner Guacolda Reyes. Designed by architect Paul Tebben, the building represents a shift towards modular construction in urban settings. The structure will be complemented by new metal and wood fences, according to the submitted plans.
Zap Electric Inc. will handle the electrical components of the building, ensuring all installations meet the required safety and efficiency standards. Kinexx Modular Construction, serving as the general contractor, will oversee the assembly of the structure. Masonry work will be undertaken by T & D Builders.
The project has a budget of $500,000 and total permit fees amounted to $3,791. When complete, residents of 4836 S Loomis Boulevard will be a seven-minute walk to the west from bus stops for Route 9.
