A construction permit has been issued for a new residential development at 847 N Paulina Street in the West Town neighborhood. The project, owned by Kasper Development LLC, will construct a three-story building with three dwelling units, replacing a previously vacant plot. The development will include a basement, a roof deck, and a detached three-vehicle garage with its own roof deck.

Architect Peter Sterniuk has led the design, though at this time, renderings or drawings of the design are not available online.

Bus service is accessible nearby for Routes 9, X9, and 66 all within a three-minute walk. Blue Line subway access is also within the vicinity, residing an 11-minute walk north via Division station.

Kasper Development LLC will serve as the general contractor for the project. The projected cost of the project is $500,000.

As of the permit issuance on July 31, 2023, an estimated completion date for the project has not been announced.

  1. Vacant lot?? I’m sad they tore this one down, I remember when it was up for sale. Needed rehab, but not to be torn down.

  2. All these tear-downs are so upsetting. Our unwillingness to preserve or reuse is super disappointing. Chicago loses a piece of itself with every demolition of a historic, sturdy building.
