The second webinar event in the “We Will Chicago,” series will take place today, Thursday the 23rd, at 12 pm CT. Today’s topic will explore international models of Arts & Culture that advance the goal of supporting and growing artistic work in communities. The conversation will feature the following speakers:
- Commissioner Erin Harkey, Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, City of Chicago
- Amanda Carlson, Senior Strategist, Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, City of Chicago
- Laia Gasch, Senior Advisor of Culture and Creative Industries, Mayor of London, United Kingdom; and Director of Partnerships at World Cities Culture Forum
- Claire Rice, Executive Director, Arts Alliance Illinois
As previously reported “We Will Chicago” is the first citywide initiative of its kind since the “1966 Comprehensive Plan.” We Will’s efforts are still evolving, but the three-year citywide planning initiative prioritizes equity, resiliency, and engagement to create an inclusive vision for the future of Chicago. The program is hosting the virtual series with the goal to increase vibrancy throughout Chicago, by looking at models and practices brought about by global thought leaders.
This is a seven-part series, and each will represent a pillar of the We Will Chicago plan. The program is actively seeking citywide participation and is highly encouraging community engagement and feedback.
