2401 S State Street Nears Completion in Near South Side

Construction is now wrapping up for a four-story residential building at 2401 S State Street in Near South Side. Known as “Common McCormick,” the building is one of the latest additions to Common’s Chicago collection, which offers furnished co-living apartment accommodations. These apartments provide suites private bedrooms oriented around a shared living area. This installment has delivered 19 of these suites, starting at $1,018 per month.

Co-living residences come with utilities, household essentials, cleaning services, and WiFi all included in the monthly rent. Residents also have access to a rooftop amenity deck, a lounge, and a fitness center. As far as transit, there will be 10 off-street parking spaces and 33 total bike slots.

Built Form’s design for the now-complete edifice involves brick ground level and dark metal paneling along the upper three floors. The massing of the structure integrates vertical bays for added natural light.

Beyond the included parking, residents have access to several other transit options in the vicinity, such as bus service for Route 29 at the adjacent intersection of State & 24th. Other bus stops within close walking distance can be found for bus Routes 1 and 4, situated a four-minute walk east to Michigan & 24th Street. For access to Green Line CTA L trains, service can be found via a six-minute walk north to Cermak-McCormick Place Station.

Anna Builders & Construction has served as the general contractor for the $4 million construction. Common’s website currently lists move-in dates for next month.

  1. Hm, those panels couldn’t be less interesting. I wonder why they didn’t have any interest in livening up the facade. Nonetheless, it’s nice to see a co-living project pop up. Interesting model of housing that diversifies the existing stock!
