Howard Brown Health is the largest LGBTQ health care organization in the Midwest. As noted in a recent article by Block Club Chicago, the new location will replace its previous venue at 3245 N Halsted Street. The 71,000 square-foot building will double the patient capacity in the area from 6,000 to 12,000, while expanding its medical and social services. The development will also allow the organization to add a second dental clinic in the North Side.

The ground floor will contain 5,600 square feet of retail space, topped by clinic space on the second and third floors, the dental clinic on the fourth floor, and behavioral health, social services and administrative offices on the fifth floor. On-site transportation accommodations will consist of 27 parking spaces and 20 bike spaces.

Originally designed by Architrave, the most recent iteration is by Eckenhoff Saunders Architects, who have envisioned a glass curtain wall facade with intermittent brickwork of various colors. As seen in renderings, the curtain wall will provide ample light into the main atrium. The fifth floor will also be set back to allow for a sprawling terrace area.

McHugh Construction is serving as the general contractor for the project, with the current foundation phase expected to cost $4 million. Additional core, shell, and crane permits have been filed but not yet issued, while a full completion is expected for next year.
