A demolition permit was issued last week for a one-story frame residence and a detached frame garage located at 2116 W School Street in the North Center neighborhood. The permit’s owners have been listed as ABD Hamlinton LLC. No permits or plans have been issued as of yet for any future projects or zoning changes.
The closest bus service available can be found on Route 50 at the intersection of Damen & School via a two-minute walk east. There are a number of popular restaurants and retail options along nearby N Western Avenue.
DS Construction is serving as the demolition contractor on this project. At the time of this writing, no construction permits have been filed or issued.

This has to stop. The whole reason these neighborhoods were appealing to these suburban and out-of-town transplants in the first place was the old school look and charm. Now they’re starting to look like the immediate areas around metra stations in newer suburbs. Damn shame.
I completely agree. And this is a Chicago bungalow – those things were built to last. What’s worse, there aren’t even any plans in the offing at this point. So just demolish a building ……for what????
Probably for a bigger back yard for the building to the left. Is there a petition to save these old buildings to push for remodeling instead?
