Sterling Bay Plans Property Sales for Lincoln Yards Megadevelopment

Sterling Bay is seeking a financial partner for the Lincoln Yards megadevelopment and is planning to sell land adjacent to the 53-acre site to meet debt repayment deadlines. CBRE has been hired to sell properties at three locations,1907 N Mendell Street, 1901 N Elston Street and 1500 W Cortland Avenue, which were initially part of the $6 billion mixed-use project. Amid financial difficulties, Sterling Bay has been selling properties, including an industrial property sold last year for $4 million, Crain’s Chicago Reported.

Construction Complete On First Phase Of Kennedy Expressway Renovation

Construction has been completed on the first phase of the Kennedy Expressway renovation on the north side. Work began earlier this year in spring on the major renovation of a seven-mile stretch of the highway between W Ohio Street to the south and W Lawrence Avenue to the north. The work is being led by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and will span across three-years in total.

Work Begins On Kennedy Expressway Reconstruction Through 2025

Construction has started on a major renovation of the Kennedy Expressway between W Ohio Street in the south and W Lawrence Avenue in the north. Built in 1960 the 18-mile-long highway runs from the city center all the way to O’Hare International Airport and on average of 327,000 vehicles use it daily, making it the busiest roadway in the Midwest. Due to this heavy usage, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is embarking on the phased multi-year reconstruction project for one of its busiest portions.
