At 3456 North Claremont Avenue in North Center, a two-unit frame residence has been surrounded by demolition fencing, after having just been sold this summer. According to real estate website Zillow, the home, built in 1892, sold in September for $625,000.

While nothing is confirmed, there appears to be a plan in place to demolish the home and replace it with a new single-family residence, to be built on spec. Currently, neither demolition nor new construction permits for this address are pending on the Chicago Data Portal.

  1. Hopefully the replacement is a multi-unit building. Developers should have to pay a large penalty for reducing unit count.
