New Construction Permit Issued For 3-Story Residential Apartment Building In East Garfield Park

On September 25, 2024, a permit was issued for the new construction of a 3-story residential apartment ‘courtyard’ building at 3340 West Carroll Avenue in East Garfield Park.
The application was submitted on June 12, and took 105 days to process before it was issued. The new construction will include 14 affordable dwelling units and 14 street-level parking spaces.
The total fee for the permit is $70,498.34, with $20,185.34 paid so far, consisting of $13,998.34 in building fees and $6,187.00 in zoning fees. The remaining unpaid balance is $50,313.00, which includes the unpaid zoning fee.
The owner of the property is Breakthrough Urban Ministries. Plans were designed by architect Jordan Wankel. Construction is projected to cost $8,600,000.00 in total.

  1. It’s exciting to have 2 posts in a day coming from the Garfield Park area. The area has long suffered from disinvestment and from an excess of vacant lots. Small developments like this one here will go a long way to increase the population, vibrancy of the neighborhood, and hopefully points to a greater future for the neighborhood
