A caissons-only permit has been issued for the construction of a new seven-story mixed-use building at 1100 West Grand Avenue in West Town. The permit, issued on August 16, comes after a lengthy 422-day direct developer services process that began with the application submission on June 21, 2023.

The new building plans to boast 99 dwelling units, 28 indoor parking spaces, and 99 bike spaces when complete. It is being led by Wildwood Investments, and has been designed by bKL Architecture.

The permit allows for the installation of the building’s foundation system prior to the issuance of the full building permit. The permit fees for this stage of the project total $6,925, with $6,850 paid for building fees and $75 for zoning fees. The reported cost of the caisson work is estimated at $300,000.

When complete, the property will be a short walk from CTA stations servicing the Blue Line.

Are they moving the flag pole East or is this new place going to fit in the current concrete footprint?

  2. Glad to see this is going along well, any chance those lots east of this will be used? would make for great retail space at the least.
