A construction permit has been issued for a new residential development at 1712 W Augusta Boulevard in West Town. This planned three-story, four-unit building will include multiple roof decks and enclosures, three-story rear stairs, front and rear porches, and two four-car garages with roof decks. George Pop is the owner of the project.

The architect of record for the project is Christopher Bremer, whose design has yet to be revealed.

Regarding transportation, the site offers bus service close by, with Route 9 available at Ashland & Augusta via a three-minute walk east. Also nearby are Routes 60 and 70, located within an approximately five-minute walk. Meanwhile, the Blue Line’s Division Station is a nine-minute walk northeast.

Garner Development Inc. is the general contractor for this project, estimated to cost about $2,000,000. A firm completion date for the development is yet to be announced.

  1. It would be interesting if YIMBY did an article on the change in the number of vacant lots per year. There are so many articles on redevelopment of vacant lots, but it’s a little hard to conceive the whole picture on an article-by-article basis. I think these stories are the real way that Chicago grows forward: not through big shiny projects, but through neighborhood infill investment.
