A construction permit has been approved for a multifamily residential project at 226 W 24th Street in Chinatown. The filing calls for a three-story masonry building with three dwelling units, a basement, and a rear metal porch system. There will also be three open parking spaces on the site. Led by owner James Calace, the new construction will replace a currently vacant lot.
The architect responsible for the design is 360 Design Studio. At this point, renderings and drawings have not yet been posted.
The development includes provisions for three open parking spaces. As for public transit, the nearest bus line is Route 24, located at the nearby intersection of Wentworth and 24th. The closest CTA L station is the Cermak-Chinatown Red Line station, an eight-minute walk from the property.
The general contractor for the construction is Sligo Construction Inc, while the reported cost of the project is $9,220,000. As of now, there is no announced completion date for the development.

9.2 million for 3 units?
Hi Bobby, I was rather surprised too. I triple checked since it seemed like so much, but the permit does say $9.2 million. I’ll dig a little more to see if there might be an error in the submitted filing, but would be very intrigued to track this one should it be accurate
They didn’t proofread their information on this construction project. I think they meant $920,000., which is an estimate that is way to high.
