The Chicago Housing Authority has listed details for upcoming affordable apartments listed at 2310 & 2350 S State Street in Near South Side. The project is available to both families and individuals and there will be a total of 68 available units, of these 41 will be one-bedrooms and the remaining 27 will be two-bedroom layouts.
The units are available via the application on the Chicago Housing Authority site and will be offered at 80 percent of the area median income (AMI), with an eligible income cap of $58,350 for a household of one. There will be no drug tests and no work requirements as part of the application process. According to the housing authority site, additional screening measures include a criminal background check and may also include a credit check as well as a home visit. Any potential application fees have not yet been determined.
Each of the buildings has an elevator. The building will include water, but other utilities such as gas & electricity will be the responsibility of future tenants. The total rent has not been made public. Applications and waitlist should open soon, however, a timeline is not currently available.

Montrose is on the North Side.
The article should be corrected. The listed addresses are nowhere near Damen and Montrose.
Yes I think the following line needs removal: “The development will be located near the intersection of N Damen Avenue and W Montrose Avenue.”
This anti-height, human-scaled new-urbanism approach to the redevelopment of former public housing sites needs to be thrown out and the city needs to support more dense housing and remember height/density isn’t the enemy. The failures were in policies, the lack of funding/maintenance and mass concentrations of poverty. The Plan for Transformation has been an abject embarrassment bordering on criminal.
@ Unionmade. All public housing is an abject failure. Vouchers are the only solution. Let people live wherever they want and not be stuck in government controlled housing. The only thing criminal is is the trillions of dollars wasted since the 1930s on this BS.
