A demolition permit was issued yesterday for Chicago Mial Church, located at 4500 N Spaulding Avenue in the Albany Park neighborhood. The property is a two-story masonry building with a paved lot. The permit’s owners have been listed as the Chicago Milal Church.
In terms of transportation access, the closest bus option is Route 82. This route can be found at the intersection of Kimball & Sunnyside via a three-minute walk west. The CTA L Brown Line can be found at the Kedzie station via a six-minute walk northeast. The area is outfitted with numerous retail and restaurant options along nearby Wilson and Kedzie Avenues.
DS Construction will be serving as the demolition contractor on this project. At this time, no future plans have been indicated for the site.

Depressing.
Beautiful building that could or should be repurposed. Also, sad to demo with no future plans.
What a shame! I get it, if those stained-glass windows need significant repair a conversion may be prohibitively expensive. But surely a gut-rehab to retain the masonry structure is a positive alternative to knocking it down! YIMBY staff, if it’s possible to reach out to the owners for these type of demolition orders to see if there is a reason or interest in preserving given the right resources, this would be helpful reporting!
Looks like there was a big fire here back in February. The stained glass windows were destroyed. The article states that the building was heavily damaged though still structurally sound. Preservations seems to mean nothing in this city. It should have been allowed to get to this point.
Demolition without future plans: senseless.
Hold on. You mean this isn’t Chicago NIMBY dot com? Ok cooll.
