Construction permits have been issued for a single-story Starbucks coffee shop, located at 9438 S Ashland Avenue in the Brainerd neighborhood. The site lies at the southeast corner of a larger parking lot area, located along S Ashland Avenue and W 95th Street. Glazier Corporation is the filing owner, whose new venue will also come with a patio, landscape improvements, a parking lot, and a masonry trash enclosure. The new construction will replace a closed gas station.
In May of this year, the Department of Planning and Development approved a request to allow for the cafe, thereby greenlighting construction.
Gaspare Pitrello of ARCON is the listed architect of record. Drawings included within the planning documents show a tan and red brick masonry facade with a glass curtain wall storefront.
Guests and employees will have access to various bus routes nearby, including stops for Routes 9, X9, 95, 381, and 395 at the adjacent corner of 95th Street & Ashland. While no CTA L stations are in the vicinity, the Metra can be accessed via a five-minute walk west to 95th Street-Beverly Hills station.
Glazier Construction corporation is serving as general contractor for the reportedly $250,000 establishment. Details regarding when construction will wrap up have not been posted.
